In 1990, Parama Pūjya Śri Swamiji visited Chicago for the first time. HE has taken the time to bless the devotees in Chicagoland several times since then. However, HE awaited for the right time to set up a temple for devotees in the Chicagoland area. In August 2022, Prāṇapratiṣṭhā of Lord Dattātreya and Anaghā Devi was the highlight of the Mahā Kumbhābhiṣekam event in the temple. Pūjya Śri Swamiji felt that the temple environment was spiritual and blissful and HE blessed with further additions to the temple.
In July 2023, Parama Pūjya Śri Swamiji anointed multiple additional idols: Ganeśa, Bāla Murugan, Rāja Rājeśvarī Devi, Lord Śivā, Ram Parivār, Kṛṣṇa Paramātma and Hanūmān. This unique Viṣṇu Pañchāyatana temple with Lord Dattātreya and Anaghā Devi as Viṣṇu and Lakṣmi is one of a kind in the Americas. The temple offers regular rituals like Abhishekam, Archanas, and Homas to all the devotees. KDHT also religiously conducts Anagha Vrata, an ancient tradition, revived and propagated by Pūjya Śri Swamiji for the benefit of mankind.
To enact HIS vision, devotees have set up several classes including Bala Datta for kids, Bhagavad Gītā memorization for kids and adults, fluent reading of Gītā for adults, Kriyā yoga classes, Vedānta lectures, Bhajans and Nada Sevā at the temple. The temple devotees also participate and lead various community services around Chicagoland.
